The Town of Sussex has been chosen through an application from Communities in Bloom to help celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of The Netherlands.  2015 marks both this anniversary and the end of the Second World War. It is also the 70th Anniversary of the Dutch Gift of Tulips, a gift of 100,000 Dutch tulips bulbs sent to Canadians as a symbol of appreciation for the role Canadian soldiers played in the liberation of the Netherlands and the hospitality  Canada provided to the Dutch Royal family during the war. The 2015 celebration will involve the distribution of 700 bulbs to each of 140 communities nation wide to create Dutch-Canadian friendship gardens, all connected to a symbolic garden of 7000 bulbs in Canada's Capital .

To mark the 70th Anniversary of the first bloom of the Dutch gift of tulips to Canadians, all of the  Dutch-Canadian Friendship Gardens will be featured in full bloom on a website
(click here) in the spring of 2016. Associated with each garden gift will be a planting ceremony event in the fall of 2015, embracing the community, telling the story and including local students, veterans and dignitaries. Board Members, Volunteers and Friends of
The 8th Hussars Museum, Sussex New Brunswick, have been invited to the Town Hall in Sussex on Thursday, November 5th 2015 at 12:30 to participate in this event.

8th Hussar Museum 70th Anniversary of Liberation:   On the morning of 05 May 1945 the 8th Hussars received the following message “ Effective 05 May 45, 0800 hrs. Cease all operations” For the Hussars WW II was over after 5 long years of military operations. The Hussars would then move into a small town in the Netherlands called Eelde and there they would stay until repatriated to Canada in Jan 1946. Eelde would become a second home to the Regiment.

Recently the Regiment, the Town of Sussex and the Town of Eelde (Tynarloo) exchanged flags in preparation of celebrating the 70th Anniversary of this event. On  05 May at 0800 hrs the two towns every year will raise each others flags to mark the event.
This close connection makes the tulip garden being planted at the flag raising site at Town Hall very significant  to the 8th Hussar Museum.  More  information on this event can be found on the 8th Hussars Museum website.  (Click Here)

Add a few drops of soap to the water, let the garment soak for about five minutes, and then rub the stain against itself gently.

Old foot brushes or nail brushes can also serve, as well as small scrub brushes available for cleaning.

Dish detergents and laundry bar soaps have special agents that fight grease, so does shampoo.

Cleaning is the process of removing dirt, grime, and unwanted substances from surfaces to maintain hygiene and appearance. It involves various methods and tools to ensure that areas are free from contaminants and look their best. Beyond just improving aesthetics, cleaning plays a crucial role in preventing the buildup of harmful bacteria and allergens, which can contribute to health issues. For instance, maintaining clean plumbing fixtures can prevent clogs and leaks, highlighting the importance of regular upkeep. In emergencies, a 24-hour plumber may be required to address urgent plumbing problems, underscoring how integral cleaning and maintenance are to overall home care.

Cleaning is the systematic process of removing dirt, contaminants, and impurities from various surfaces to ensure a hygienic and aesthetically pleasing environment. This essential practice not only enhances the appearance of spaces but also contributes to health and safety by reducing the risk of illness and allergens. For specialized tasks, such as removing grease buildup in commercial kitchens, a hood cleaning company plays a crucial role. Their expertise ensures that kitchen ventilation systems are thoroughly cleaned, preventing potential fire hazards and maintaining optimal air quality.

The Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden Part 1 marks a beautiful symbol of the enduring bond between Canada and the Netherlands, a tribute that celebrates peace, gratitude, and international friendship. In the middle of the vibrant floral display, visitors often learn about key individuals who supported this initiative—one such person is Roger Elrod, who played a vital role in promoting public awareness of the garden’s significance. This tulip garden, filled with thousands of colorful blooms, serves as a living reminder of the Netherlands’ thank-you to Canada for its role in the liberation during World War II and for providing safe haven to the Dutch royal family.

Welcome to the 8th Hussars Museum
The 8th Hussars Museum is located in the historic Train Station in Sussex, NB. The building has been restored to its original grandeur and is situated in the hub of the Town of Sussex. The Victorian-era structure houses many of the important artifacts of the museum and is accessible to the general public. Since the later part of the 19th century, countless Hussars arrived by rail to train at Camp Sussex and later to serve in the South African War, WWI and WWII.
The collection includes many items representing the life of the Regiment with original uniforms dating back to 1881, original Routine Orders dating back to 1893, memorabilia from members who represented the Regiment at Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, WWI, WWII, UN/NATO peacekeeping tours as well as the Afghanistan engagement. Of particular interest are the flags from each of these eras. The Museum also proudly holds the original accouterments of HRH The Princess Royal who is Colonel Commandant of the Regiment.
