Our Collection

The 8th Hussars Museum collection is almost entirely dependent on donations from the public. Over the years we have collected a variety of artifact and archival material pertaining  to 8th Hussars though not exclusively.

We are always interested in acquiring new additions to our collection but we need the story that goes with it. If you think you may have something to donate to the 8th Hussars Museum, please tell us about it by filling out the form below. Your potential donation will be discussed at our next acquisitions
committee meeting and we will advise you of the decision. It is likely that your donation will be accepted, but if not, we will tell you why and suggest a possible home for it.

Appraisals
On request, the 8th Hussars Museum will issue a receipt for income tax purposes for the fair market value of objects donated. An outside appraisal is required. The fees for an outside appraisal must be assumed by the donor. If you are thinking of making a donation, we suggest you discuss it with a member of our staff or a member of our Collections Committee, who will help guide you through the process and provide information on any fees that would be involved.

Please note that in accordance with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Code of Ethics for Museums, the 8th Hussars Museum staff does not offer financial appraisals or evaluations of objects to the general public. We suggest you contact the Art Dealers Association of Canada or the Canadian Antique Dealers Association.
