The 8th Hussars Museum has a limited number of summer employment opportunities each year as funding is dependent upon grants from Young Canada Works, the Community Museums Summer Employment Program, and Canada Summer Jobs.  Interested candidates should research these youth employment programs and ensure that they qualify and, if applicable, are registered with the program candidate lists.

​Job Description 
We are a military museum focusing on the history of the 8th Canadian Hussars. The museum is open 5 days a week, Weds to Sun, 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM daily during the summer.
 
You will assist with the overall operation of the museum during its busiest time of the year. A large percentage of the year’s visitors occur during the summer months and most projects are completed during that time with the assistance of the summer students.
 
Duties include:
-Greeting visitors and conducting tours, sometimes for large groups.
-Establish and maintain a collections inventory of display items.
-Assist in daily housekeeping activities.
-Receive and account for artifacts donated to the Museum.
-Answer the telephone, read email messages, and respond appropriately.
-Sell items and maintain the accounts of the Museum Gift Shop.
-Assist with parking cars during the Flea Market in August.
-Daily opening and closing procedures.

 Must be a full time high school student or attending university student (interest in history, education or museology preferred); between the ages of 16 and 30; must have excellent organizational skills, solid written and oral communication skills, have computer (MS Office, Outlook) and problem-solving skills. Candidate should be outgoing, enjoy history and enjoy working with people. Supervisory skills and bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset. 
Training will be provided.
