ASSOCIATION OF THE 8TH CANADIAN HUSSARS (PRINCESS LOUISE'S) BURSARY FUND
Terms of Reference
1. Intent The intent of the Bursary Fund of the Association of the 8th Canadian Hussars is to provide financial assistance to deserving applicants who are in the process of pursuing post-secondary education at the undergraduate, graduate, community college or vocational level.
2. Bursaries The Association of the 8th Canadian Hussars may award up to two bursaries annually, depending on the number and suitability of applicants. Available bursaries are as follows:
a. Regular (Coriano Trust) Bursary $1,000.00
3. Eligibility Applicant suitability will be based on previous scholastic achievement, financial need and regimental affiliation of the applicant/relation. The following are eligible to receive a bursary:
a. A serving or former member of the Regiment, a spouse/widow/widower of a serving or former Hussar or the child or grandchild of a serving or former Hussar;
b. An individual may only be awarded one Association of the 8th Canadian Hussar Bursary in a lifetime. If initially unsuccessful, an applicant may reapply any number of times until either successful or until the program of post secondary education has been completed;
c. Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible (as described in paragraph 1) post secondary program for the ensuing academic year; and
d. Applicants attending a fully subsidized educational program, such as a scholarship program, UPTM or UTPO are not eligible for an Association bursary.
4. Selection The Bursary Committee will consist of three members designated by the Association Executive. Committee deliberations will be based on the criteria detailed at Annex B (not included with this application). The Chairman of the Bursary Committee, following completion of the selection process will notify successful applicants.
5. Disbursement of Bursaries Payment of bursaries to successful applicants will be made in two instalments, the first in November and the second in January. Both disbursements are contingent upon the applicant providing documentation confirming their full time enrolment with the post-secondary institution.
6. Requesting and Submission of Applications Requests for Bursary Application Forms may be made at the Regimental Orderly Room, accessed on line at the Association Website, or made in writing to:

a. Completed Applications are to be returned to the above address, post marked no later than 30 April, and MUST be accompanied by the following:
(1) A statement of the applicant's proposed program of study and its duration,
(2) A copy of the official Statement of Acceptance as provided by the Institution that the applicant will attend,
(3) Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references, and
(4) A transcript of the most recent scholastic marks (if a High School student this will be first semester Grade 12 marks).
